Name:
Reg Evans.
What was your life style like when you decided to follow Jesus?
Before - pretty ordinary. After – quite tough but very fulfilling.
What year were you baptised? What age were you?
Baptised in 1982 at aged 42 years.
Where did you begin to worship and what was your first impression of the church?
Gosford church on the central coast NSW. First impression was that it lacked the aura of holiness, humility and respect to the Lord in its worship. To pray whilst seated and not on my knees, really upset me.
What difficulties / challenges did you have in striving to be like Jesus?
Accepting the fact that one cannot ever really be like Jesus as one always falls short by a long way.
What challenges did you have in feeling part of the Lord’s body?
The challenge I faced was with the proper understanding of the Lord’s body and the part I could fulfil.
What principles of the Restoration movement (restoring Christianity to be as it is in theNew Testament) are important to you?
The chief principle is that of understanding that God has created a pattern which can be seen in the study of the scriptures. The second great principle is that of being obedient to that pattern and retaining the humility of accepting it.
What did you think about having no musical instruments in worship?
It seemed strange after being used to an organ in the Anglican faith.
What spiritual interest did you have before becoming a Christian?
Spiritual interests have been with me from about the age of eleven years. I believed I became a Christian at the age of 14 years when I committed myself at a confirmation service but I believe differently now.
What is important to you, in how you walk in Jesus today?
My efforts are constantly in striving to live in accordance with the fruit of the Spirit.
Where do you worship today? Approximately how many brethren?
I continue to worship at the Gosford church and there are (at time of writing) approximately 90 brethren.
What rolls do you carry out in the church?
My current roll is that of a shepherd as well as the obligations that concern all Christians in fulfilling their part in the body by using the gifts given to them by grace.
